Iran-Iraq Earthquake - 328 Deaths

The earthquake tremors were felt in the border area of Iran-Iraq late night on Sunday. The magnitude of this earthquake was measured 7.2 on reactor scale. This earthquake has caused heavy devastation. Number of people killed in the earthquake that occurred late last night in Iran and Iraq has increased to 328 and 5341 people were injured. An aid agency from Iran told that 70 thousand people have become homeless due to earthquake.



At least 207 of the dead were residents of the western province of Kermanshah. Seven people have been killed in other places in Iran. Earthquake tremors were felt in several Iranian states near to the Iraq border. There is more damage in 8 villages. Electricity has been cut in some villages. Relief and rescue team has been sent to the affected areas.

Earthquake shocks were felt in many other provinces of Iraq. The people in the capital, Baghdad, ran away on the streets, where seven people were killed due to earthquake. Prayers are being done in the mosques of the city. Iran's news agency ISNA and News told the Health Ministry sources that 5341 people were injured in Iran due to earthquake.



Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed condolences to the people killed in earthquake in Iran and Iraq and wished to wounded people get well soon. In his condolence message, the Prime Minister said here today, "My condolences on the death of your loved ones are with you in the dire earthquake that came in Iran and Iraq. I wish for early recovery of the injured people in this tragedy."
