Schools Colleges Closed, Rail Service Stop Today, Dalit Protests Will Take A Toll On Maharashtra
The violence during the 200th anniversary of the Bhima Koregaon war in Pune district of Maharashtra has spread to many cities of the state including Mumbai. In view of this, there are continuous demonstrations in many places in Maharashtra (on Wednesday), hence a large number of security forces have been deployed throughout Maharashtra including Mumbai. Due to the performance, the state has also had a profound impact on bus and rail services. Bharip Bahujan Mahasangh’s leader and grandson of BR Ambedkar, Prakash Ambedkar, has called for the Maharashtra Bandh to protest against the government’s failure to stop the violence.
Due to the protest, the administration has decided to close schools in Nashik and Aurangabad today. Although schools and colleges will be opened in Mumbai today. All the examinations of Mumbai University will be held on time. On the other hand, those who take food from Dibbewala in Mumbai will have to face difficulties because they have decided to stop the service today. Internet service has been closed in Aurangabad.
On Wednesday morning demonstrators also performed at the Pune railway station and stopped the train. This also affected the train service.
BSP Chief Mayawati
BSP chief Mayawati has said that, “The incident which has happened, it could be stopped. The government should have proper management of security there. There is a BJP government and they have carried out violence there. It seems that the BJP-RSS and the racist forces are behind it.
Earlier on Tuesday, allegations of violence took blame on the MLAs of Gujarat and Dalit leader Jignesh Mewani and JNU student Omar Khalid. According to the news agency ANI, on Tuesday evening, two youths Akshay Bikkad and Anand Dodd demanded registration of a complaint by giving a written complaint against Jignesh Mewani and Omar Khalid at the Deccan police station in Pune. The complaint letter has alleged that Jignesh Mewani and Omar Khalid had given provocative speeches during the program on December 31, after which the violence spread.
Blame On Jignesh Mewani And Omar Khalid For Hate Speech
It is alleged that Jignesh Mewani incited people of a particular protest on the road during his speech. Omar Khalid had also said in his speech the inciting of caste people. After the hate speech of these two people, people of a particular class started coming out on the road to protest, which later took violent. It is alleged that MLA Jignesh Mewani had also spoken of going to Nagpur on April 14 to launch an RSS free India campaign. During this speech, Prakash Ambedkar, former judge B.G. Kolse Patil, writer and poet, Ulk Mahajan, were present.
Violence Reached At Mumbai
On Tuesday, the fire of communal violence reached Mumbai. Dalit demonstrators damaged many buses in Mumbai and obstructed road and rail traffic. During the 200th anniversary of the Bhima Koregaon war, on Monday, in Pune, there was a conflict between Dalit groups and right-wing Hindu organizations, in which one person was killed.
In Pune, the Pimpri police registered cases against the leader of Hindu Unity Awadh, Milind Ekbote and Sambhaji Bhide, president of Shivraj Pratishthan, for instigating violence. Both organizations had opposed celebrating ‘Victory of Britain’ in the war. Police told that in Mumbai, protesters damaged more than 160 buses. Over 100 protesters have been detained.
Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had appealed for peace in the Pune violence case by ordering the judicial inquiry by the current Judge of the Bombay High Court. He said that there was a need to ascertain what a conspiracy behind the violence was. Fadnavis said that the family of the young man killed in the violence will be given a compensation of Rs 10 lakh and the CID will investigate his death.
